Timothy J. Byrne, 52, passed away on June 10, 2018 at the Veteran’s Medical Center, Long Beach, California after a fairly brief illness. Born in Brooklyn, New York, Tim was the son of Marie D. of North Kingstown, RI and the late Robert W. Byrne. He is survived by his son, James S. Byrne of California and his siblings:
Eileen A. Straughn and her husband Richard of West Greenwich, RI; Robert W. Byrne, Jr. and his wife Monica of Falmouth, ME; Michael P. Byrne and his wife Carol of North Kingstown, RI; and Diane M. Cherella and her husband William of Narragansett, RI. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews and their families: Joseph R. Byrne, Richard E. Straughn, Jr., Robert W. Byrne, III, William P. Cherella, III, Robert M. Cherella, Caroline E Cherella, Michael P. Byrne, Jr, and Katherine A. Byrne and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Timothy was a long-time resident of California where he most recently was involved in the Church and counseling others. He was an avid New York Yankees fan and enjoyed watching football, good music, fishing and the beach.
He served in the Air Force and the Air Force Reserves and achieved the rank of Sargent. He enjoyed his time serving his country and traveling about the country during his service, which is how he landed in California from the East Coast.
Funeral and burial will be private.
