Raymond L. Grandchamp, Sr., 94, formerly of Weaver Sreet, West Warwick passed away on Thursday, January 10, 2019 at The John Clarke Nursing Center in Middletown. He was the husband of the late Adele E. Laporte) Grandchamp.
He was born in West Warwick on November 26, 1924, a son of the late Dangeville and Adrienne (Provost) Grandchamp.
Raymond was a supervisor in the maintenance department of the Kent County Water Authority in West Warwick for over twenty years before retiring in 1986. He was a World War II Navy veteran. He was a former usher and collector at SS. John and James Church; and a member of the Phenix Sportsmans Club and the American Legion Post # 2 both of West Warwick.
He leaves two sons, Jean R. Grandchamp and wife, Darlene of Milford, Connecticut and Michael N. Grandchamp and wife, Lisa of Portsmouth; nine grandchildren; one great granddaughter and a sister-in-law, Rose Grandchamp of Rutland, Vermont.
He was the father of the late Anne Marie Cipriati and Raymond L. Grandchamp, Jr. and brother of the late Loretta Joyal, Norbert Grandchamp and Eugene Grandchamp.
Visitation to which relatives and friends are invited to attend will be held on Monday, January 14, 2019 from 10 to 11:30 am in the Potvin-Quinn Funeral Home, 45 Curson Street, West Warwick followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12 pm in SS. John and James Church, 20 Washington Street, West Warwick. Interment with military honors will follow in the R.I. Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Exeter. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory to the Robert F. Potter League for Animals, 87 Oliphant Lane, Middletown, R.I. 02842 would be appreciated. The family wishes to entend their deepest appreciation to all the staff at both The John Clarke Retirement & Nursing Center in Middletown and the Atria Aquidneck Place in Portsmouth as well as to Dr. Kristen Di Marco for her many years of dedicated care.
