Nicholas Michalenka, 93, passed away Monday, May 2, 2011. He was the husband of the late Florence M. (Happenny) Michalenka. Born in Central Falls, a son of the late Platon and Anna (Prima) Michalenka. Mr. Michalenka lived in Central Falls before moving to Johnston 30 years ago and was a machine repairman for Cumberland Engineering for 16 years before retiring in 1980. He was a WWII U.S. Army veteran serving in the European Theatre. He is survived by his sons Peter A. Michalenka of Lincoln and Henry J. Michalenka of Johnston. He was the brother of Tania St. Pierre and the late Zenia Walker, John, Talia and Walter Michalenka. He was the grandfather of 7 and great grandfather of 2.
His funeral will be held Saturday at 8:30AM from the TUCKER-QUINN Funeral Chapel, 643 Putnam Ave. (Rte.44) Greenville with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM in St. Brigid Church, 1231 Plainfield St., Johnston. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston. Visitation Friday 4-8PM.
