Leo E. “Pat” Labrie, aka “Leo the Barber”, 89, passed away Thursday, January 2, 2020. He was the beloved husband of the late Lydia (Cervini) Labrie and recent companion of Alyce (Boyle) Mack. Born in N. Providence, he was a son of the late Alphonse and Alma (Forgue) Labrie. He was an Air Force Veteran of the Korean War. He lived in Greenville since 1953 and was a life member of the Elks Lodge 2359 and the Balfour-Cole VFW Post 2929 both of Smithfield. He was a former coach for the Smithfield Little League and Girls Softball. Mr. Labrie was the owner of the former Leo’s Barber Shop in Smithfield for 53 years before retiring in 2003. He loved his family and spending summers at the beach. As a longtime barber, Mr. Labrie gave a lot of first and last haircuts and was voted “Best Barber” by RI Monthly Magazine numerous times. He was also the former Sealer of Weights and Measures for the Town of Smithfield.
He was the father of Linda Simmons of Leland, NC, Paul Labrie and his wife Marlene of Greenville, Jeffrey Labrie and his wife Lisa of Woonsocket, Nancy Landi-Orabona and her husband Kevin of Smithfield and Gail Buccafurri and her husband Domenic of Johnston. He was the brother of the late Irene Beauchemin, Arthur, Walter, Joseph and Francis Labrie. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. A heartfelt thank you to the Bayada caregivers that tenderly cared for Leo during his final weeks - especially Jilina, Sam, Jasmine, Eula, and Alexis, whose extra care for Leo and strong shoulders for his family will forever be appreciated.
His funeral will be held Monday, January 6, 2020 at 8:30am from the TUCKER-QUINN Funeral Chapel, 643 Putnam Ave., (Rt.44) Greenville, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30am in St. Philip Church, 622 Putnam Pike, Greenville. Burial with Military Honors will be in St. Ann’s Cemetery, Cranston. Visitation Sunday, January 5, 2020 from 2-6pm. In lieu of flowers donations to Hope Hospice and Palliative Care of RI, 1085 N. Main St. Providence, RI 02904 will be appreciated.
