James K. "Jim" Townsend, Jr. Obituary

TOWNSEND, Jr., James “Jim” K., 72, passed away Wednesday, May 9, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Elaine M. (Balsamo) Townsend for 47 years. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late James K., Sr. and Clara (Ledberg) Townsend.

Jim was a Navy veteran and served during the Vietnam War. Following his honorable service, he worked as a carpenter for the Narragansett Electric Co. for many years before retiring.

Jim was the loving father of Jennifer T. Ahearn and her husband, Brendan, and Kelly J. Townsend; brother of Christine Townsend, Meredith Gladstone, and Karen Townsend. He cherished his two grandsons, Collin and Grayson Ahearn. Jim is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to a funeral service on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at 11 am in the All Saints’ Episcopal Church, 111 Greenwich Ave., Warwick. Burial will be private.
