Emmett S. Knapton, Jr., 86 of North Kingstown, passed away Sunday, March 22, 2020. He was the husband of the late Virginia M. (Tierney) LeClair Knapton, and the former husband of Betty M. (Wicklund) Cullinan. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Emmett S. Knapton, Sr., and Phyllis E. (Gould) Knapton.
A US Coast Guard veteran, Mr. Knapton served his country honorably during the Korean War. Following his service, Mr. Knapton was employed as a State Marshall for many years before retiring. He was a member of the North Kingstown F.O.P. #33 and the Freemasons. Mr. Knapton loved North Kingstown, and his cats. He enjoyed the ocean, bowling, and playing Jai Alai at the Newport Grand Casino.
Mr. Knapton was the beloved father of Emmett S. Knapton, III (wife, Desti), Keith S. W. Knapton, Teri L. Bohac (husband, Mark), and the late Jeffrey W. Knapton; father-in-law of Kimberlee C. Knapton, and Patricia A. Brown Knapton; grandfather of Ashley Robyn (husband, Jesse), Tiffany Giacchi, Adam Bohac, Zachary Bohac, Rose Bohac, Jacqueline Bohac, Jennifer Kilday (husband, Brian), Sean Knapton (wife, Abbey), and Colin Douglas; brother of Gerald Knapton, and the late Wayne Knapton. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2020 from 8-9am with a private service to follow at 9am in the FAGAN-QUINN Funeral Home, 825 Boston Neck Rd., North Kingstown. Interment with military funeral honors will be in the RI Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, Exeter.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Disabled American Veterans, 360 Westminster Street, Providence, RI 02903 will be appreciated.
