Edward G. Rottmann, Sr. Obituary

Edward G.Rottmann, Sr., 82, passed away at home Thursday June 9, 2016. He was the beloved husband of the late Carol M. (Hempel) Rottmann for 45 years before her passing in 2003. Born in Queens, NY, he was a son of the late Charles F. and Wilhelmina (Goeb) Rottmann. Mr. Rottmann was a manager for the former Nife, Inc. for 35 years and was the founder and owner of American Battery Charging in Smithfield before retiring in 2000. He lived in Long Island, NY before moving to Smithfield in 1978. Mr. Rottmann was a Korean War Veteran of the U.S. Navy, an honorary lifetime member of the Smithfield Sportsman's Club, a member of the Country View Golf Club and the Smithfield Senior Center. He was the loving father of Diane L. Hayden and her husband Bill of Harrisville, Jacqueline C. Rottmann of Playa del Rey, CA, Allison M. Rottmann of Shanghai, China and Edward G. Rottmann, Jr. and his wife Lisa of Bowling Green, KY. He was the grandfather of 7and the great-grandfather of 2. He was a constant companion and golf partner of his grandsons Bill, Sam and Ben Hayden. Brother of Annamay Walsh and her husband James of Central Islip, NY and the late Rosalie, Mary, Wilma, Ursula, William, Charles, Robert and Joseph Rottmann. The family would like to recognize Mr. Rottmann's caregivers Susan, Emily and Vicky.
His funeral will be held Friday, June 24, 2016 at 9am from the TUCKER-QUINN Funeral Chapel, 643 Putnam Ave. (Rt.44) Greenville, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Michael's Church, 80 Farnum Pike, Smithfield. Burial with military honors will be in the RI Veteran's Cemetery, Exeter. Visiting hours Thursday, June 23, 2016 from 4-7pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to Alzheimer's Assoc., RI Chapter, 245 Waterman St., STE. 306, Providence, RI 02906 will be appreciated.
