Obituary

Edna R. (Houser) Thoman, 94, of Foster RI passed away peacefully at home on February 18, 2019.
She was the beloved wife of the late Albert R. Thoman for 62 years. A native of New Orleans, LA, she is preceded in death by her parents, Edward Houser and Eula (Landry) Hebert, her sister and her brother-in-law Yvonne & Eldon Topp. She is survived by her two sons Joseph (Christine) Naro of Plainfield, CT, and Edward (Elissa) Naro of Springfield, VA, her brother, David (Linda) Houser of VA, four grandchildren and their spouses, AnnMarie (Todd) Bertulis, Edward (Bethany) Naro, Tanya (Dennis) McFarlane and, Tara (Gary) Russell, 10 great-grandchildren, Madeline, Christine, Gary Jr., Lindsy, Jack, Michael, Audrey, Abigail, Ryan, and Addison, and by many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. Edna was a devoted member of St. Paul’s the Apostle, and the Ladies Auxiliary of the South Foster Volunteer Fire Company. She was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who enjoyed music, sewing, dancing, cooking, and baking wedding cakes for friends and loved ones. She worked as a ship welder during the Second World War, and owned her own beauty salon in New Orleans where she met her husband. She also volunteered her time to her church, knitting hats and booties for newborns at local hospitals. She and her husband also delivered the Providence Journal Newspaper throughout Northwest Rhode Island for more than 20 years. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday April 6th at 10 am in St. Paul the Apostle Church, 116 Danielson Pike, Foster, RI. 02825. Burial to directly follow at Phillips Cemetery.
