Dorothy M. San Souci Obituary

Dorothy M. (Hitt) San Souci, 89, of Woodland Drive, Coventry formerly of East Street, West Warwick passed away on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at the Riverview Healthcare Community in Coventry surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late William J. San Souci. She had resided in Coventry since 2000 before that living in West Warwick all her life.
She was born in West Warwick on November 18, 1927, a daughter of the late Earl and Jessie (Cummings) Hitt.
Dorothy was a food services worker at the Kent County Hospital in Warwick for over 18 years before retiring in 1999. She had previously worked as a waitress at the Ferrucci's New York System Restaurant in Arctic for over 17 years and also at the Phenix Restaurant in West Warwick for five years.
She was a former lector and eucharistic minister at the former Saint James Church in West Warwick and a past member of the Pawtuxet Valley Community Chorus.
She leaves a son, William J. San Souci, Jr of Florida; two daughters, Donna Masterson and Carol Shute both of Warwick; one brother, Vincent Hitt of Maryland; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was the grandmother of the late Amy L. Shute and sister of the late Roland Hitt.
Her funeral will be held on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at 9 am from the Potvin-Quinn Funeral Home, 45 Curson Street, West Warwick with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in SS. John and Paul Church, 341 South Main Street, Coventry. Interment will be in the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Exeter. Visiting hours are Wednesday 4-8 pm.
