Obituary

Sadly, our beloved mother and grandmother, Dorothy Frances Adelman, passed away on March 30, 2018 at the age of 90 years. She was born in St. Cloud, Minnesota on September 27, 1927 to Michael and Dora Adelman. She graduated from St Cloud Tech High School in 1945 and moved to So. California when she was 18 years old. She married and raised six children who shared many unforgettable memories with their mom, while growing up with the many adventures she pursued. She was full of life, loving to travel and meet people, and this passion was unrelenting until a few years before her death. She valued higher education and inspired her children to attend college just as she did with getting an AA degree in Nursing at the age of 40?? and then graduating with a bachelor’s degree in psychology from St. Cloud University at the age of 70. She channeled her love of travel and compassion for people by volunteering in the Peace Corps in Guatemala and the Good Shepherd Home for women and children in Thailand. She served as a volunteer at Little Company of Mary Hospital in Torrance, CA for many years. In her later years, she especially enjoyed fun jobs, working at Disneyland and a few summers at Glacier National Park in Montana. One of her greatest loves was sharing time with her grandchildren and many adventures with them as well. Everyone that met Dottie had the privilege of knowing a truly unique individual. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Words cannot express the love she had for her family and the loss in this world of our beautiful Mom and Grandma. May she rest in heavenly peace.
She is survived by her children, Carmel Fleck (David), Dana Altland (Andrew), Jeff Widmann (Thom), Jamie Horn (Gary), Beth Mohan (Jerry), Jackie Romeo (Jeff) and her grandchildren, Sean, Marina, Haley (Thomas), Kelsey, Kaitlyn, Chris, Emily, and Ella and a great granddaughter, Everly.

A Memorial Service will be held at Quidnessett Baptist Church in North Kingstown on April 7 at 11. A Funeral Mass will be held at St Mary’s Cathedral in St. Cloud, MN on April 14 at 10:30 with a reception celebrating her life following at the church.
