Montecalvo
December 30, 2019
Resided in Warwick, Rhode Island
Diane Montecalvo (Zorabedian), 99, passed peacefully December 30, 2019 at Brentwood Nursing Home in Warwick. She was the loving wife of the late Constantino “Gus” Montecalvo. Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Tarves (Bozoian) and Thomas Zorabedian. She was the beloved mother of Sandra Montecalvo of RI and Joseph Montecalvo and his wife Linda of Vermont; grandmother of Jason Montecalvo and wife Halima; great-grandmother of Jaelyn and Kyrie of Virginia; sister of Alice DeAngelis of RI, and the late Samuel, Anthony, Richard, Myra Zorabedian, and Grace Topazio. She also leaves many and much-loved nieces and nephews, with a special love for niece and caregiver Denise Lynch.
As Sunday school teacher, Diane loved to teach young children. Having children of her own she delighted in joining the PTO and participated in all activates. Diane was employed for 20 years at the Outlet Co. in Providence, a job she loved, working with the public and delighted in meeting new people until her retirement in 1982.
In her youth, Diane ran track and was awarded a gold medal in track when participating in the Armenian Olympics, held in Pawtucket in 1939. It was written that she “flew like a bird” and “the two girl’s events were captured by diminutive Diane Zorabedian.” Diane was an avid reader, loved playing the piano and so enjoyed the company of relatives and friends alike. Her ever present smile, her throwing of kisses and happy greetings to everyone she met will be missed by all. The family wishes to thank all throughout Brentwood Nursing home for their kindness and care shown to their mom with a special thank you to the West Wing, especially CNA’s Nicky, Jen, Courtney, Nadine, Ashley, Tammy, Nurses Linda, Corinne and Karen, and Housekeeper Lisa.
Her family is honoring her request that her funeral will be private.
