Dana B. O’Neill, 87, died Friday, December 25, 2020 at home after a long illness. He was the beloved husband of Janice V. (O’Neil) of Greenville. He was born in Bellows Falls, Vermont to Charles Gerald and Doris (Parker) O’Neill. He lived in Cranston for 33 years before moving to Greenville 21 years ago.
He graduated from Walpole, NH High School and attended Johnson and Wales University.
He retired as a Chief Hospital Corpsman after proudly serving for 23 years in the U.S. Navy. He worked at St. Joseph Hospital in Providence for 34 years.
Dana was a man of few words whose character spoke volumes. He was a kind and gentle man admired and respected by all who knew him.
In addition to Janice, his wife of 59 years he leaves a son Tim O’Neill (Kelly Lawwill) and daughters Danabeth LeClair (Bob) and Joan Coleman (Jack). He is also survived by six grandchildren, Ben, Michael, Jonathan, Sophie, Sam, Olivia and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Janet Jones. The family wishes to express their gratitude to all those from Hope Health Hospice for their devoted service and care for Dana during the past year.
Private burial services will be held at the RI Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Exeter, RI. A memorial Mass will be celebrated sometime in the future. Memorial contributions in Dana’s memory may be made to the RI Food Bank 200 Niantic Ave. Providence, RI 02907 or to Hope Health Hospice and Palliative Care, 1085 North Main St. Providence, RI 02904 will be appreciated.
