Charlotte S. Richardson Obituary

Charlotte Richardson (Smith), 87, of Jamestown, passed away peacefully Monday, March 14, 2016 surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Victor C. Richardson for sixty-eight years.
Born in New Bedford, MA, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Mary (Pallatroni) Smith.
Mrs. Richardson worked as a expert bookkeeper in Providence and later for New Visions in Newport. She retired as the Executive Director of the Jamestown Senior Center after twenty-two years.
She was the first Republican woman elected to the Jamestown Town Council, where she served multiple terms.
She was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and the Business and Professional Women's Association, Jamestown Chapter. She was a member and served on the board of the Conanicut Grange and Pomona Grange. Mrs. Richardson was a member of the Beavertail Lighthouse Museum Association and served as secretary.
She enjoyed painting and reading to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She played the piano and accordion; and enjoyed playing the piano for the summer Conanicut Yacht Club Youth Group and for the Forest Farm Nursing Home.
In addition to her husband, she leaves four daughters, Karen Richardson of RI, Gaelyn Bunker and her husband Wayne of FL, Kim Whittenhall and her husband Wayne of Fall River, MA and Pam Jarret of North Kingstown; two brothers, Albert Smith of Jamestown and Charles Smith of VA; four grandchildren, Jennelle Goodburn and her husband David, Marisa Grondin and her husband Jimi, Lucien Jarret and his wife Kim, and Elena Hughes and her husband Steve; and nine great-grandchildren. She was the sister of the late James Smith. She also leaves many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, March 19, 2016 at 11am in the Jamestown Senior Center, 6 West Street. Visiting hours Friday 4-7pm in the FAGAN-QUINN Funeral Home, 825 Boston Neck Road, North Kingstown. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions to the Jamestown Senior Center will be appreciated.
