Charles W. Clark Obituary

Charles W. Clark, 85, passed away Friday, December 25, 2020 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Theresa M. (Laperriere) Clark. Born in Warwick, he was a son of the late Byron and Cecile (Couto) Lawton. Charlie had Served 20 years in the U.S. Army, was a Ranger in the 82nd Airborne and acted as a Military Adviser in Korea. He also served 2 tours in Vietnam, achieving the high rank of Master Sargent. Charlie appeared in the 1961 movie, "The Longest Day."

After retiring from his long service to our country he came home to his 3 children and wife Ruth of 18+ years who unexpectedly passed away after a couple of short weeks. He later met and married Theresa, raising their blended family of 5 children together in Warwick, RI. Charlie was employed as a maintenance man for Armburst Chain for 18 years. He was a communicant of St. Joseph Parish in Hope Valley, serving as a Eucharistic Minister for many years.

Charlie was a caring, loving man who always reached out to help those in need. He delivered Meals on Wheels in the Hope Valley community for 10 years and was a board member of Hillsdale Housing Corporation mobile park for 10 years.

His hobbies were wood crafting, golf, gardening and helping all his neighbors with anything from minor home repairs to snow-blowing their driveways as well as driving to his many children's homes to help whenever needed.

A quiet man who loved God, his country and his family he will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 46 years and all his children and grandchildren who were a huge part of his life. Charlie was the loving father of Charles B., Denise A., Brian W. Clark, and loving step-father to Patricia A. Burns, Linda J. Gil, Judith M. Durand, the late Darleen Farrell and Harry Klocker. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren and was the grandfather of the late Jared M. Audette.

His funeral will be private.
