O'Hara
April 5, 1924 - September 1, 2019
Born in Great Falls, SC
Resided in Uncasville, CT
Carleen O'Hara, 95, born in Great Falls, SC and a longtime resident of Uncasville, CT, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 1, 2019. She was the loving wife of the late William V. O’Hara and a daughter of the late John R. and Mamie (Bowers) Beckham.
Carleen O’Hara was devoted to her family. Raising her eight children was a full-time job where she became the consummate handy-woman. From fixing leaking faucets to re-upholstering furniture and preparing three meals a day, no household task, large or small, daunted her. She expressed her artistic nature through sewing projects, making dolls and singing with the Sweet Adelines. As the years passed and her children left to start their own families, she found time to relax watching her favorite soap opera and golf tournaments on TV. For the last seven years of her life as her health failed, she was fortunate to be cared for at home by a loving health care worker, Grace Osei. The last of her 10 siblings and 10 in-laws, Carleen will be sorely missed and forever remembered.
She is survived by her eight children: Janice Dowling of Ledyard, CT, Nancy O’Hara (Michael Levine) of Germantown, NY, Michael O’Hara (Pamela) of Fresno, CA, William O’Hara of Oakland Park, FL, Colleen O’Hara of Danville, CA, Karen O’Hara of New Britain, CT, Kathleen O’Hara of Pinellas Park, FL and Richard O’Hara (Sandra Pipicelli) of Meriden, CT; eight grandchildren: John O’Hara (Jolene), Michael O’Hara (Lisa), Alexandra O’Hara, Shioban O’Hara (Sean Hatcher), Tristan Medellin (Rachel), Ethan Pipicelli, Peighton and Rowan O’Hara; and five great grandchildren: Maggie, Ellie, Jack and Grace O’Hara and Saoirse Hatcher.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, September 11, 2019 from 11-12, noon with a service to follow at 12, noon in the FAGAN-QUINN Funeral Home, 825 Boston Neck Rd., North Kingstown, RI 02852. Burial will follow in the RI Veterans’ Cemetery, Exeter, RI. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
